Editor's Note:
What a month! We’ve had a lot of activity, energy, and enthusiasm in the DNN Ecosystem lately. The community areas of DNNSoftware.com have seen a lot of knowledge exchange and community support, ecosystem planning and positive conversations are underway, and good things are ahead.
The DNN Digest is not intended to share content that you have already seen, but so many big things have happened in the ecosystem recently that I’d like to highlight a few recent items that I feel are significant just in case you weren’t aware:
-
Prompt: A very powerful open source command line interface for DNN, Prompt, is coming in the next release.
-
Liquid Content: Liquid Content will be moving to the Platform as seen on GitHub.
-
DNN Stuff Open Sources: Richard Edwards of DNN Stuff has released his entire module collection as open source, announced in a DNN Forum post.
-
DNN Summit Keynotes: DNN Summit announced they’re having 2 keynote speakers, DNN CEO, Andy Tryba, and the original creator of DNN, Shaun Walker.
I’m very excited to see both Prompt and Liquid Content in the platform as they make DNN an even more robust and powerful solution. I’m also pumped that both Andy and Shaun will headline DNN Summit. With a lot of GitHub activity present and the trend of open source in the air, these are indeed exciting times for our community!
Did you know that we’ve created a Subscribe to DNN Digest page and a DNN Digest archive? We continue to seek your input so, if you have feedback for us, just respond to this email!

10lb Gorilla Theming Reference
This month’s spotlight features 10lb Gorilla’s DNN Theming Reference. If you are a front-end developer or a DNN theme creator, this tool could be your best friend. Have you ever wondered what theme and container objects exist or maybe even wondered what properties theme and container objects have that can be modified? If so, this interactive reference tool makes it very simple to not only find that info, but to update the objects as you need and implement them in your site.

Tips from Support
This month’s DNN Support Tip comes from Shawn McGillivray, a Senior Support Analyst at DNN Corp.
Q: How would I see how a page looks using a different theme without changing the actual theme settings or changing how my site looks to my users?
A: By using the query string parameter SkinSrc, you can dynamically load any installed skin file on any page, even when you are not logged in. This loads the page with the selected skin in the browser only, so it makes no permanent changes and is only seen by you.
Example URL: www.domain.com/testpage.aspx?skinsrc=/portals/_default/skins/MyTheme/home
The value after the “=” is the relative path to the skin file. Note that there is no .ascx after the filename (“home”) in the above example, as it is added automatically.
Note: we recently launched support packages for DNN Platform users. If you’re an Evoq customer, please know that there are no changes to the support associated with your subscription. You may purchase a Support Package from the DNN Store.
