Something Special is Happening:
March was a busy time in the DNN ecosystem! We saw the release of DNN v9.2, which among other things included Kelly Ford’s open source contribution “Prompt”, a CLI for DNN. The team at Cantarus posted a blog about their OSS contribution to the community PolyDeploy, which was really well done, and the DNN Technology Advisory Group continues to meet weekly and discuss the future direction of the platform.
Mixed in with the content and updates something special is happening. DNN Corp has stated it’s focus is on the community and open source… and now community members are moving into action and it is awesome to watch! Leaders are emerging from the community and followers as well. This is something great to see.
This was well-articulated in David Poindexter’s blog on updating the DNN Release Archives titled “Answering the DNN Call”. The shift to empowering the community coming from DNN Corp is indeed real. Kelly Ford was one of the next community members to realize this shift and take action. Check out Kelly’s blog “Building a Better Platform” where he steps up and takes leadership and ownership for DNN’s documentation efforts.
It is this crossroads that excites me. We are at the moment where DNNCorp is truly empowering the ecosystem and community members are taking DNNCorp up on the offer. The community is shaping the future and driving the platform. Won’t you answer the call too?

Note: This tip comes from Shawn McGillivray, a Senior Support Analyst at DNN Corp.
Last month, we released DNN Platform 9.2. Here’s a tip you can use when performing a DNN version upgrade.
Here's how to display a Site Offline page when you need to temporarily disable access to your DNN installation without causing visitors to get "site not found" errors:
- Create a static HTML page to display a message during your downtime and name this app_offline.htm
- Copy this file to the root of your DNN installation. When this file is present in the root folder with an .htm extension, all requests will be re-directed to display this page.
- To restore normal operation, simply rename the file to app_offline.bak. Leave this file in the root of your DNN installation so you can reuse it anytime you need to.
DNN Spotlight Interview with Kelly Ford & David Poindexter
As mentioned in the editor’s note, something special is happening in the DNN Community. Continuing along that same thread, I recently sat down with Kelly Ford and David Poindexter to discuss the shift of ownership to the DNN Community, the return to true open source, and their community leadership.

During the first week of March, Microsoft held the MVP Global Summit in Bellevue and Redmond, Washington.
According to the event’s website, "the MVP Global Summit enables MVPs to connect with other MVPs, build relationships with Microsoft product managers, and provide feedback on Microsoft products and technologies."
Ricardo Peres, a Microsoft MVP who attended the summit, shared photos and a summary on the Stackify blog. There are a number of Microsoft MVPs in the DNN ecosystem who were there as well
We recently received some positive feedback about the DNN Digest from one of our subscribers!
I used to get to the website and participate in the forums several times a day, however with my schedule changing for the better, I rely on the newsletter to keep me informed during those periods that I can't go to the information myself.
