New Community Website

Ordinarily, you'd be at the right spot, but we've recently launched a brand new community website... For the community, by the community.

Yay... Take Me to the Community!

The Community Blog is a personal opinion of community members and by no means the official standpoint of DNN Corp or DNN Platform. This is a place to express personal thoughts about DNNPlatform, the community and its ecosystem. Do you have useful information that you would like to share with the DNN Community in a featured article or blog? If so, please contact .

The use of the Community Blog is covered by our Community Blog Guidelines - please read before commenting or posting.

Creating a dotnet Core DNN in a few days - recommendation to discuss

Getting DNN to dotnet core seems daunting - or maybe not? I believe the solution can be very simple. Please watch the video and discuss in in the discussions below.

Daniel Mettler grew up in the jungles of Indonesia and is founder and CEO of 2sic internet solutions in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, an 20-head web specialist with over 800 DNN projects since 1999. He is also chief architect of 2sxc (see forge), an open source module for creating attractive content and DNN Apps.

I'm a bit leery of this idea. After all ... the hard work that tons of community members have put into the existing framework ... .NET Core would break everything.

@Katherine did you watch the video? because my proposed solution wouldn't break anything and keep it compatible to the past

If it is just another view engine that we could play with now and mature over time, that makes sense to me. I haven't delved as deep into Razor as you @Daniel, I still primarily rely on Web Forms for most of my programming so you probably have greater insight.

Would be nice to hear from the core team's opinions on .NET Core and the future of DNN.

More than 3 months later and no comment from DNNsoftware. I guess they have nothing to say!

@Tony - I understand your thoughts :). DNN wants to stay low-key, till they are sure the can do something which they can deliver.

But I have some good news: DNN is refactoring all admin-UIs to JavaScript in an upcoming release, to lower the integration with webforms. So even though they are quiet, they know they have to go this way and they are doing it :)

Yeah yesterday I listened to Joe's speech (recorded) about DNN 9. Looking forward to it.

@Tony: What speech is this? I don't see anything mentioned on the community or corporate blog? Mum has been the word on the roadmap and features for a while now. Not even sure what or when the next release is targeted.
