Now that 2013 has come to a close it is a perfect time to reflect on some of the more significant DNN milestones and accomplishments from the last 12 months...
The year started with DNN celebrating its 10 year anniversary with a creative infographic thanks to Chris Hammond. In February, Sebastian Leupold did a DNN Roadshow, hitting 5 major cities in Germany and Austria including Vienna, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt, and Berlin.
The big news in March was the official release of DNN Social, a powerful commercial solution frm DNN Corp for managing online communities. This was followed up by Southern Fried DNN - a major DNN user conference in Charlotte, North Carolina. This was the second event organized and hosted by the amazing folks at QCDUG and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the fine southern hospitality of "Fried Chicken. BBQ. Sweet Tea. DotNetNuke. A winning combination!". Later in April, DNN Europe held their annual meeting in Girona, Spain, graciously hosted by Vincenç Masanas and attracting DNN business professionals from across Europe.
Perhaps the most impactful event of 2013 happened in early July when DNN Corp announced a significant ecosystem and product rebranding, introduced DNN Platform and Evoq solutions, launched a new website at dnnsoftware.com, and announced general availability of its Cloud offering. This led into a very busy summer and fall where there was much greater focus on embracing open source collaboration. DNN Platform adopted JIRA for issue tracking, migrated its source code repository to GitHub, and began offering nightly builds for DNN Platform releases.
The year concluded with another successful user conference, DNNCon, this time in West Palm Beach, Florida. DNNCon was hosted by our friends at Arrow Consulting and Design and they did a phenomenal job organizing their first large scale DNN conference event.
On the product side in 2013, we continued to move forward with a sense of urgency and had 2 major product releases for the DNN 7.x Platform, as well as 8 maintenance releases. We also made 4 security patch releases available for 6.x in accordance with our obsolescence policy. I look forward to another busy year for DNN in 2014.
Happy New Year!
