I’m looking for a few good skinners…

As you may have read by now… DotNetNuke 7 will include a lot of UI/UX changes as well as an overhaul of the default.css. Of course this is awesome news and reflects continued growth and positive change for DotNetNuke skinning! But every progress comes with a little challenge… and from a Community standpoint, the challenge is that the free skins contributed from previous design challenges are not up to date with the styles of later versions.

Why do we care about free skins? Free skins are one of the very best ways for people looking at DotNetNuke to experience how it can be easily adapted and changed to suit their needs. Now some might argue that free skins impede the sales of commercial skins… so why would you designers participate? For new users or those with simple needs, a free skin may be all they’ll ever need. But we know that designers who participate in community become well known, are recognized as authorities and appreciated in ways that generate referrals for custom work and interest in their products. Or more succinctly… we’re an open source project and we believe in the abundance mentality!

So I’m looking for a little help! I’m looking for a handful of community volunteers to upgrade some of the existing Forge skin projects to work with the CURRENT release of DotNetNuke (6.2.3) as well as start working on versions that will be optimized for DNN 7.

If you are an original contributor of one of these contest skins, of course we would love to have your help! But either way, I’ll be looking for a handful of folks to help out with this effort and be generously recognized for their contributions.
