Not sure if this is just myself and wondered if anyone else was getting. I'm trying to install the latest ctp and the installer runs through fine apart from when site loads it has no skin attached. http://beta.area51net.com/Default.aspx This is purely a stock.

I havn't had a chance to do a CTP2 install yet so don't know if its a more general issue or one specific to your site. I hope to give CTP2 a workout tomorrow night.

Hitting the URL you provided with Fiddler enabled shows that you are getting 404 (not found) HTTP return codes on all references to the DependencyHandler.axd causing both CSS style sheets and some javascript externals not to load.

I would supect that the issue is pecular to your site - most likely the ClientDependency related modifications to web.config failed to occur or the ClientDependency.Core.dll assembly did not get installed into the /bin folder - in either case the cause might be permissions related.

Were there any errors noted during the install?

Hi Will thanks for getting back to me, It's wierd as i thought maybe permissions like yourself, anyways i thought would try putting 6.1.4 on and seeing if does same and that installs fine without any iissues. I then thought would try then running the upgrade version and again it all appears to run without a problem but when i get to browse the site the site again looks like http://beta.area51net.com so am more thinking this is a package issue more than a server issue if so why does 6.1.4 install without any problems, where both the fresh install and upgrade packages gives me the same result as shown.

Any help be appreiciated.

Craig,

I had a few minutes this morning to try a CTP2 install. The install ran without error and when browsing to the site I did not find any problems with the skin or with loading CSS or JS. I'll try an upgrade from 6.1.4 tonight.

I would do a comparison between the web.configs of 6.1.4, 6.2.0 CTP2 fresh install, and 6.2.0 CTP2 upgraded from 6.1.4 looking in particular at the Client Dependency related nodes in the <system.webServer><handlers> section, the <system.Web><httpHandlers> section and the <clientDependency> section. If it would help, I could email you web.config files from my test installs. You may contact me at bill (at) wesnetdesigns (dot) com.

What version of IIS are you using ?
Is the AppPool set up for ASP.Net 2.0/3.5 or 4.0 ?
Did you remember to "unblock" the package downloads before extracting?

Accepted Answer

Looks how i found the reason, to why this is enabled by default or is failing i don't know.

"Enable Composite Files" in host settings, host setting > client resource mangement. When i disable this i can then see the site properly. Again not sure why this is enabled by default and also to why is having the issue. Hope it helps and is fixed for next ctp.
