The Summit is Coming! The Summit is Coming! February 19th thru 23rd, 2019.
Are you ready for DNNSummit? I am. This will be my third year presenting in Denver, Colorado, my most favorite of states. If you haven’t attended the conference before, you’re in for a treat, I’ll try to give you some insight as to what you can expect!
Training
Before the conference you’ll find quite the selection of training opportunities. You can learn Module Development, from Will Strohl and Scott Wilkson. You can learn Theme Development from Anthony Overkamp. You can learn Administration and Ryan Moore, Tracy Wittenkeller and Alessandra Davies. If you are new to DNN, need a refresher on DNN, or want to expand your knowledge of DNN, these training sessions are for you.
Sessions
The conference itself is two days of sessions, with speakers lined up from all over the world. I’ll be presenting again, on the following topics:
- Securing your DNN site using Azure and Let's Encrypt for SSL
- Shooting a Flare into the Clouds. Using CloudFlare in front of your DNN website.
- Installing DNN on Windows Azure is too hard! You shouldn't do it.
Friends
If you haven’t taken part in a DotNetNuke (DNNCMS) conference before, you are in for a treat. The best part about DNN is the people, that’s what keeps me coming back! You’ll make new friends, perhaps see old friends, and get to spend some business and social time with some of the brightest people you could hope to ever meet. Be sure to attend the social sessions, and try to sit down next to someone you’ve never talked to before during any of the sessions and meal times that you partake in. Ask people what they do, who they are, what they are looking for at the conference. You might make a lifelong friend while here, I know I have with my experiences in this great community.
Prizes
This conference has had some of the best prizes you’ve ever seen. The past two years there have been CUSTOM LIGHT SABERS! Seriously, DNN light sabers given out at the end of the conference. I hope to walk away with one myself this year, but we’ll see if I get lucky enough! The vendors at the conference will have some great swag as well.
Snow
The conference is in Denver at the end of February, you’re likely to get some snow! Though with Denver weather, you are probably just as likely to get 65 degrees and sunny! You might luck out and get both on this trip. If you really want to guarantee some snow, be sure to sign up for DNN on the Slopes in Winter Park, CO the weekend after the conference. You you can sign up ahead of time and get all your lift tickets and gear at a discounted rate, or if you want to bring your own stuff, feel free. I’m planning on driving out from St. Louis again with my snowboard for a weekend on the slopes!
The City
Denver, one of the best cities on the planet. You can have fun, you can see great sights, you can see some beauty that is hard to match. Denver sits on the front range, at the base of the Rocky Mountains, which are guaranteed to have snow on top. Get in early and head down to Colorado Springs for a visit to Garden of the Gods (right), or perhaps take a drive/ride up Pike’s Peak. There are lots of things to do in Denver, even things that are illegal in most other states. Get out and enjoy the city.
