New Community Website

Ordinarily, you'd be at the right spot, but we've recently launched a brand new community website... For the community, by the community.

Yay... Take Me to the Community!

The Community Blog is a personal opinion of community members and by no means the official standpoint of DNN Corp or DNN Platform. This is a place to express personal thoughts about DNNPlatform, the community and its ecosystem. Do you have useful information that you would like to share with the DNN Community in a featured article or blog? If so, please contact .

The use of the Community Blog is covered by our Community Blog Guidelines - please read before commenting or posting.

Announcement: I’m Returning to DNN!

As you are most likely aware there has been a lot of change going on at DNN in the past month or so. As a community member, the messaging around the renewed focus on community from the new CEO, Andy Tryba, was music to my ears and probably yours too. The change in leadership and direction was a surprise to me, but it wasn’t the only surprise that would happen to me this month.

Putting Action Behind the Promises
Probably like you, I wondered what all this change would mean for the DNN community, platform, company, and ecosystem. Andy has boldly stated that he’s placing focus back on the community and that he’s a man of action and results. What I wasn’t expecting was that my passion for DNN and the DNN Community would cross paths with one of the new CEO’s strategic goals… to help revive & grow the DNN Ecosystem.

With that said, I’m honored and excited to say that I’m returning to DNN and taking on the role of “Ecosystem Manager”.

Sometimes life takes odd paths to various destinations. I am excited that my journey has led me back to DNN, back to a solution and community that I’m passionate about, and to a new role where I will do my best to serve everyone in the ecosystem as best possible.

Next Steps
In the coming days and weeks I will work with the new CEO, Andy Tryba, and team to understand the new vision and direction for the community and ecosystem. I’m sure my marching orders will become clearer in time and we’ll be communicating those outwardly.

Again, I look forward to serving you, the greater DNN Community & ecosystem, and I am excited to play a part in this transformation.

Regards,

Clint Patterson

Great news! It is good to have a Southern back at DNNCorp. I still remember his ignite session about the benefits of having a redneck in the team. I am looking forward to meeting him in his new roles.

Clint, I think a good starting point for you returning and for DNN being more focused on the community would be address the reason DNN decided to remove a top 5 vendor from the store without any communication to the community or to the vendor for that matter. The vendor is DNNGo.

They were completely removed from the store due to security issues. DNNGo fixed the security issues and contacted DNN but DNN will not respond or is dragging their feet on this.

What I do not understand is why DNN picked this one vendor when others have been just as guilty?

There were 2 top 5 vendors that had severe security issues that they fixed but one of them let the security flaws go for 9 months even though they were aware of the issues. Why does DNN all of the sudden pick this one vendore to remove from the store when they have never done this before to any vendor?

If you are going to hold one vendor to these standards, you better start holding all of them to the same standards because I guarantee there are worse modules and vendors on the store right now.

I think this would be a good issue to address and start with because I know a lot of the community also shares my opinion while I know others will disagree

Hi Scott, be sure to join us for the 11/16/17 Southern Fried DNN Usergroup Meeting. We'll feature several speakers and topics but one of them is Will Morgenweck who will speak to best practices for DNN Module Development and specifically Module security.

Speaker: Will Morgenweck
Topic: Module Development Best Practices

Description: It's always good to be knowledgeable about the latest best practices regarding development. Recent security concerns have made having sound development standards a must. In this session we will review and discuss development expectations for everyone in the DNN Ecosystem.
