New Community Website

Ordinarily, you'd be at the right spot, but we've recently launched a brand new community website... For the community, by the community.

Yay... Take Me to the Community!

The Community Blog is a personal opinion of community members and by no means the official standpoint of DNN Corp or DNN Platform. This is a place to express personal thoughts about DNNPlatform, the community and its ecosystem. Do you have useful information that you would like to share with the DNN Community in a featured article or blog? If so, please contact .

The use of the Community Blog is covered by our Community Blog Guidelines - please read before commenting or posting.

May the 4th be with you again - presenting the DNN Blog App

We are proud to announce (again on international star-wars day) the Blog App. It's pretty cool, and the best thing is that you can mix it with other apps, or just change it to be anything you want. This post you're reading is also made with the Blog App.

Download and try now, or continue reading...

These screenshots show the basics of the app, but also demonstrate how easy it is to insert other apps (in this case the Blueimp Gallery App) into the blog, creating cool app mashups

The Basics of the Blog App

The 2sxc Blog is a simple, highly customizable blog. You can use it just as it is, or change everything to fit your needs. It uses the best WYSIWYG on DNN, can be Multi-Language and way more...

This blog offers load of stuff, like

        1. Responsive List Views
          1. home-list view with the newest entries and paging
          2. posts by tag
          3. posts by author - which also shows the authors bio
          4. automatic image resizing - with different rules for wide/square pictures
          5. easy to adapt the look and feel to your own needs
          6. easy extensibility to create your own views as you need them
        2. Details view
          1. default view with post, author and tags
          2. automatic main image resizing
        3. Content Editing
          1. In-Page editing
          2. Best of breed WYSIWYG content-editor with drag-drop image & document upload and way more
          3. Advanced content-editing using app-mashups enables you to add galleries, sliders or any other app you want with in-page editing
          4. Content-mashup also allows you to use content-templates to build your post to look awesome and in line with all other content in your web site
        4. Rss Feeds

Getting More Infos about this Blog

And way more. Just so you know: this blog app demonstrates many of the features of 2sxc content management, so we'll write about it a lot in our own blog (which of course is made with this blog).

        1. The 2sxc blog
        2. Posts about this blog and about blogging

        Some Setup-Tips

In general the blog-app is self-contained - so if you put it on some page, it will automatically show a list of items with links to the details, and the details appear on the same page. Very simple. If you want to use the tag-cloud, then that should know what page to link to, since the cloud will usually not be on the same page as the blog itself. in that case you can set the main link in the app settings.

Hope you love it, just try it (requires 2sxc 8.4.4).

May the force be with you,

Love what you guys are doing. Is the blog app open sourced anywhere? I see a few small changes I'd like to contribute.

So how does this compare to the DNN blog module?

@richard there is no direct comparison between the two - both will give you a blog if that's all what you need. The dnn-blog will provide some advanced features like writing-with-ms-word which the blog app doesn't. On the other hand, the blog app is much, much easier to customize to be anything you want it to be.

@jacton if you have a contribution the process is currently not standardized yet. best to just make your changes, re-package and mail to it to with a list of changes
