Online communities come in all different shapes and sizes. Some communities consist of a simple forum, while others are much more complex with groups, wiki, blogs, discussions, ideas, etc. Selecting the right tools for your community isn’t hard, but it does take time. How do you determine what is the proper setup for your community?
Every community website needs a few tools to build a foundation in order to ensure success. Fortunately, the DNN Platform has many of the basic tools that you need for a community already included. User Profiles, Member Directory, Journal, Messaging and Groups are just a few of the features that are included with the DNN Platform. These features are quite powerful, but many people don’t even realize they are available today. We also can’t forget about the DNN Store and Forge for when you need even more capabilities.
Having all of these tools at your disposal can be overwhelming for some. Next week, I’m hosting a webinar that will help you understand how to leverage the DNN Platform and ecosystem to build a feature-rich community. We only have about an hour for this webinar and it will be packed with information. Instead of boring you with slides, I’m going to build-out a sample community during the webinar. I’m going to use modules and skins that are readily available in either the DNN Platform or elsewhere in the DNN ecosystem.
Are you thinking about building a community? Do you have a project already underway? Is there something in particular that you would like me to demonstrate during the webinar? Leave a comment below and tell me what would make this webinar useful for you.
