The DNN Community – comprised of DNN users, both technical and non-technical, potential users, employees, module and skin developers (open-source and paid), etc. – is one of the most valuable aspects of using DNN. Active DNN users contribute daily to the Community Forums, Exchange, Voice, and Blog as well as blogs, tutorials, discussions, etc. on other DNN sites. User groups across the world meet to share ideas, challenges, and advice, and we’d like to get more involved with sharing what these User Groups are doing and helping Community members connect with them!
To start, I talked with Ryan Moore, of Moore Creative and the Queen City DNN Users Group, about their group and upcoming meeting. Keep reading to learn more about QCDUG and how you can connect with them.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself, how you got started using DNN, and what your role within the QCDUG is?
Currently QCDUG is managed by group members, David Poindexter of nVisionative and Ryan & Dustin Moore of Moore Creative. We all started using DNN back in iBuySpy and early DNN 3.1 days.
How many members does the QCDUG have? Are members mainly using DNN professionally, personally, or both?
QCDUG members are a collection of types of DNN users… individuals and businesses doing website development with DNN and the primary application development platform, DNN administrators maintaining DNN sites within the businesses they work for, and young developers networking and learning about DNN.
Are there any particularly interesting projects QCDUG members are working on that you’d like to share?
Yes! That’ll be an upcoming meeting topic.
How often/when do you meet?
QCDUG meets the third Thursday of each month at the Microsoft campus in Charlotte, NC. Each meeting is also hosted online through GoToMeeting and Google Hangout; sign up for the newsletter at www.qcdug.com to get the meeting links and invites!
What’s something unique or interesting about QCDUG that other groups may benefit from learning about?
QCDUG is an active group and a great group to connect to! We’ve hosted two Day of DNNs previously in Charlotte and the latest Southern Fried DNN was a huge success and model for future community events.
Tell us a little bit about your next meeting.
The next meeting is July 17th at the Microsoft campus in Charlotte. The meeting begins at 6:30 pm with speakers at 7:00 and 8:00.
Bruce Chapman will present to the user group a review of the changes and performance improvements in the new DNN 7.3 release. Kody Betonte with Arrow Designs, host of the next DNN Con event in November, will speak for a few minutes about what to look forward to at this year's event.
As the user group for the Carolinas, everyone is invited to attend in person and to join us online! We always try to broadcast the meeting over GTM, and everyone can participate. For announcements about upcoming meetings and other updates, either join the group at DNN, www.dnnsoftware.com/groups/filter/charlotte, or sign up for the newsletter on www.qcdug.com
What advice would you give to new DNN users?
Come spend some time with us! Get connected to your local user group and get connected to QCDUG. The Community is the best part of working within DNN!
