Content Management Disruption

North Bridge Venture Partners' conducts an annual survey on the use of open source in business and they recently published their findings from the 2008 OSBC Conference ( which Nik Kalyani attended on behalf of DotNetNuke Corporation ). From DotNetNuke's perspective, the most important information in the survey, as noted in the Information Week Article, is that the respondents identified the content management market as the segment with the highest chance of being "turned upside down" within the next five years. Basically, this is a result of open source platforms disrupting the traditional proprietary solution providers in this space. With open source vendors like DotNetNuke Corporation now offering professional support options for platforms, there is less benefit in customers choosing to become locked in to proprietary alternatives.
