Last week while I was waiting in Vancouver International Airport ( YVR ) for a flight to California to attend a DotNetNuke Corporation Board of Directors meeting I picked up a copy of Business in Vancouver ( BIV ), a weekly periodical covering regional business intelligence in British Columbia, Canada since 1989. The article on the cover ( Issue 1090, September 14-20, 2010 ) which caught my eye was the list of the Top 100 Fastest-Growing Companies in B.C.
Back in July I had submitted the information for DotNetNuke Corporation to BIV and I was curious if we had made the cut. Scanning the list of companies, I was extremely proud to see that DotNetNuke Corporation was listed in the #23rd position, with 5 year revenue growth of 601%!
To provide some context, when I originally launched DotNetNuke as an open source project and quit my day job to manage it full-time, I did so from my home in Abbotsford, B.C. After we closed our Series A round of funding, we established an Engineering office in Abbotsford, B.C. which served our needs until our aggressive growth made it necessary to find a new home. In the spring of 2010 we moved our Engineering office to the Walnut Grove Commerce Center in Langley, B.C. where we now have 18 full-time employees ( and 48 employees worldwide ).
BIV is holding a public reception on October 5th from 5:30pm - 8:00pm at the Four Seasons Hotel ( 791 Georgia Street ) with complimentary beverages and hors d’oeuvres. I will be attending to receive a framed award in recognition of our achievement.
On a side note, we received this recognition based on our increase in revenue between 2005 and 2009. Based on the explosive year we are having in 2010, I expect that we will have an even stronger showing next year ( personally, I would love to break into the Top 10 ).
