Ordinarily, you'd be at the right spot, but we've recently launched a brand new community website... For the community, by the community.

Yay... Take Me to the Community!

The Community Blog is a personal opinion of community members and by no means the official standpoint of DNN Corp or DNN Platform. This is a place to express personal thoughts about DNNPlatform, the community and its ecosystem. DNN Team Meeting - April 23, 2009

Not everyone probably realizes that the DNN Team actually has a weekly meeting.  But as a team, we have been assembling pretty regularly about once a week for the last 6 years.

Virtual meetings have been conducted using a variety of chat tools over the years.  And although chat can be very handy for transcription, it's pretty limiting as a group collaboration tool.  So this year we've moved to using GoToMeeting to increase the value of the time we spend together each week.  So far, so good!

The purpose of these meetings has always been to help ensure that the team was as informed as possible, collaborate on issues (technical and non-technical) and generally try to keep the project moving forward on all fronts.  We also use private forums and many other tools to help us manage and administer various aspects of the project.

Anyway, that's a long-winded introduction to the idea that I'm going to start posting some notes from that weekly meeting for general consumption (like I used to do a loooong time ago *grin*).  Some of the things we discuss are under NDA, but others are not... and those are things I'll be sharing with you from week to week, to help keep you in the loop too.

Cheers!

  • DotNetNuke will have a session at MS Tech Ed in Los Angeles featuring DNN & Live Services presented by Nik Kalyani.

  • Open Core development for 5.1 continues "on track", working toward a broadly available Community Edition public beta slated for May.

  • The latest version of the Forums module is being worked over by the Module Release team as well as going through staging with production data from dotnetnuke.com.  We'll be looking for dotnetnuke.com to be "dogfooding" that release hopefully within the next week or so.

  • The Form and List team (formerly UDT) has a new team members, Mikita Mikado.  Great kudos to both Mikita and Stefan Cullmann, the FnL team lead.  Mikita is contributing some enhancements he had made to the original module for CSV handling and joining the development team.  Welcome Mikita!

  • We also learned how to correctly spell both Vicenç Masanas and Néstor Sánchez names on a US keyboard... *grin*.  ç = alt-135, é = alt-130 and á = alt-160

  • Cathal Connolly did a short presentation introducing the team to one of many useful security audit tools, CAT.Net (for static analysis).
