Core Team Created

All individuals who were invited to the Core Team have now accepted and I have closed the WorkSpace to further applications for the time being.

Up until this point, I have personally maintained full control of the source code releases while at this same time managed third party relationships and performed support functions. In the beginning, as our community got off the ground, this paradigm worked fairly effectively - I was able to release 9 evolutionary versions which kept the community stimulated with forward progress. But as the community achieved exponential growth ( 15000+ registered users ) it became more difficult for one individual to keep up with the demand. Not to mention the fact that the project was ignoring one of the key strengths of the Open Source philosophy - the power of multiple developers amassed to attack a common problem.

Another issue which reared its head almost from the project inception was how to manage improvements which required modification to the core. Several individuals/teams created powerful enhancements which were embraced by the community but required some sophisticated integration. Ultimately these enhancements belonged in the core of the application but the effort to bring the many different dynamic code bases together into a single stable release was a large scale challenge.

On a less technical front, many developers familiar with other Open Source communities were quick to levy the criticism that DotNetNuke required some more formalized organization and management. This criticism was certainly warranted and it is one of the main motivations behind the creation of the DotNetNuke Core Team.
