The Rich Text Editor (RTE) forms an intregal part of most DNN websites. Although there are specific modules to perform common web site building tasks, the need to add free text with images and links remains core to the design of most web sites and reflects the traditional layout of websites.
One of the common questions from new DNN administrators is invariably how to insert a link using the RTE. Prior to DNN (3.3.0) the inelegant solution was to click the Insert Link button and add a link to any URL.
Unfortunately, this solution required the administrator to know the URL which was often difficult for users without Internet experience to locate, especially when they wanted to link to a file on their website.
Step forth RTE for DNN (3.3.0)! Administrators can now link to any page within the site or file uploaded to the site simply by clicking a radio select button and choosing the page name or file name.
The other fantastic option now available in the RTE shipped with DNN (3.3.0) is the provision of a Check box to set the link to open a new website browser. This was also another daunting task for Administrators with no experience, confidence or interest in switching to HTML to set this for a link.
Whilst these are really handy improvements for most Internet savvy Administrators, for DNN trainers and DNN newbies - these changes are heavenly!
