I've finally gotten things together and I'm happy to announce that the Reports module has entered the DotNetNuke Release Process! This means that there will be a series of tests run by different team members to ensure that the module is ready for release. Once completed, it will be posted and available for public download!
I'm a little nervous, as many junior programmers are when their code is reviewed by others, that I missed a bug or problem but overall I'm confident in the code. Just like proofreading an essay, third-party review and testing of your code is essential to producing good quality code because as a programmer it is nearly impossible to properly test code. As I mentioned, I'm applying for a Microsoft Internship, well one of the positions they hire for is a "Software Design Engineer in Test" whose job is to write and execute tests against the code written by Software Design Engineers. As a programmer, I cannot test my own code with 100% effectiveness because I know how it should work and how to make it work that way. Even if I try to think like a regular user, it's impossible to be 100% sure, so having a third-party test and review code is very useful.
Anyway, check out the
announcement post in the
Reports Forums to take a look at the Release Notes for the module and I'll make sure to let everyone know when the module releases!
BTW, Firefox 2.0's built-in spell check feature for every text box is VERY useful, check out the RC3 version
here or wait for the release in a few weeks. It even works in the DNN HTML Editor (at least in the FTB Provider)
