Ok I just got on the Core and I am seeing things that I never saw before. There is an incredible amount of "housekeeping" work that is done. the amount of time people spend working on this project is incredible. I get a little stressed trying to just "hold my own" and what have I accomplished in my first month?
On the outside not much.
The Firebird sub-project was created but there is still a lot of work to do so that's still on the way.
I'm talking to people to get a MySQL provider going but please don't expect any dates.
The DAL II code is in there (<grin> nice thing about being on the Core I can finally see "all the good stuff") but no date when it will be released because the other hard working members have a bunch of important things to finish and test (remember there are a ton of important fixes that there are working on every single day).
Meanwhile life creeps in and some members are unable to do as much as they hoped.
With all that said, remember that when you see a project that is not going anywhere, there is nothing stopping you from contacting the Core liaison and offering to help.
I have had people contact me on the Firebird project but I am waiting for the beta release to give them something to test. After that we need Firebird providers created for existing modules.
Today I am sitting at the computer working on a module that I will later make a tutorial for that will explain how to use the new DAL II. But I'll only work for another 30 minutes because I need to take my wife out to dinner...
You get the idea...
