New Community Website

Ordinarily, you'd be at the right spot, but we've recently launched a brand new community website... For the community, by the community.

Yay... Take Me to the Community!

The Community Blog is a personal opinion of community members and by no means the official standpoint of DNN Corp or DNN Platform. This is a place to express personal thoughts about DNNPlatform, the community and its ecosystem. It's time to "Play Ball"!

That's right, spring is upon us. It's a time of rejuvenation, revitalization, a waking up of the senses as the sun creeps higher and higher into the sky. Flowers are blooming, winter's grip is receding and kids (young and old) the world over anticipate the sharp "crack" of the bat as April ushers in the start of baseball season! Like our new Baseball theme on Facebook!

At DotNetNuke we've been hard at work in the "off season", developing a winning strategy! Just last week our team announced beta 1 of the much anticipated DotNetNuke 6.2 socially enabled release. You can read a lot about all the new features and enhancements, but what's really exciting to me is what this release means for community members like you!

Part of the great fun of baseball is being in the park with the crowd, enjoying a hotdog and sharing in the 7th inning stretch; it's a social experience! As website owners, administrators, designers and developers we also know that the web has become just as social of an environment as our favorite ballpark. Our users are socially connected and when our websites aren't socially enabled, we miss out on the broader global conversation; we fail to reach the audience our communities engage.

DotNetNuke is already ahead of the curve ball here. With a pluggable architecture, an open source Extension Forge and 10,000 commercial apps in our store your website's bases are already loaded; and version 6.2 will be a grand slam! No other CMS makes it this easy. Consider just a few of the opportunities that might apply to you:

Website Owners: Don't worry about changes in the social landscape! Add Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or Linked-In authentication today and when the next "fastball" comes your way, you'll be ready to hit it out of the park with new plugins, rather than a whole new website project. Agility and speed to market... a winning combination.

Website Administrators: Trying to guide your customers and community to information they need, why not organize around social groups? Take advantage of a completely new notification system and message center to help manage your content workflow so nobody misses a single pitch!

Web Designers: With all this new functionality, there are lots of new opportunities to shape it, style it, and personalize it.  Just about everything in 6.2 supports templates and increased mobile support means folks need your adaptive designs. Swing for the fences, its a whole new ballgame!

Extension Developers: Improved mobile device detection, web services framework, knockout.js and lots more. Not to mention all the possibilities for Facebook or mobile applications! Now's the time to be a heavy hitter and step up to the big leagues!

Whether or not your a baseball fan, you're going to love DotNetNuke 6.2, and this really is the beginning of the the 6.2 season! If you haven't already, now is the time to start investing in your social strategy. Whatever role you play in your website, there's lot of opportunity coming your way and it's time to "Play Ball"!
