New Community Website

Ordinarily, you'd be at the right spot, but we've recently launched a brand new community website... For the community, by the community.

Yay... Take Me to the Community!

The Community Blog is a personal opinion of community members and by no means the official standpoint of DNN Corp or DNN Platform. This is a place to express personal thoughts about DNNPlatform, the community and its ecosystem. Meet the Speakers: Cathal Connolly

As we lead up to DotNetNuke Connections November 1-4, 2010, Bill Walker and I are highlighting some of the speakers who will be presenting sessions at this year’s conference. Last week Bill introduced you to Mitchel Sellers, today I have the pleasure of featuring DotNetNuke Corp.’s very own Cathal Connolly. So sit back and enjoy our brief interview with Cathal, and stay tuned as we feature more speakers in the coming weeks. You might also check out some of the recently announced Offers for DNN Connections.

Session ::
How to Localize Your DotNetNuke Site

Q. What is the first computer you ever owned?
A. Acorn Electron - the cut down version of the BBC Micro. My family couldn't afford a television for my use, so I was limited to the few hours when no one was using the family TV that I could use it. To fill the time between availability I started reading computer manuals (remember those?) and by the following year when I had my own TV, I no longer wanted to play games, I wanted to write them.

Q. How long now have you been part of the DotNetNuke community?
A. From the very earliest day, over 7 years now.

Q. Why are you looking forward to DotNetNuke Connections '10?
A. It's a great opportunity to see quality sessions and network with experts and members of the community.

Q. Why should people consider attending your session?
A. Localization in DotNetNuke has a long and bumpy journey, and my session's a great way to see what's available today, understand some of the logic behind our decisions and get a glance into the future.

Q. When you’re not presenting, which session at DotNetNuke Connections are you most interested in attending?
A. Effective Auditing and Logging in DotNetNuke Modules by Brandon Haynes. I saw Brandon deliver a session on security last year which was tremendous. It can sometimes be a difficult subject, but his session was entertaining and engaging as well as being filled with tons of great information.

Q. Which sessions in the concurrent tracks at DevConnections you're particularly interested in attending?
A. As usual I'll be visiting a number of security-related sessions, and this year plan to visit some Windows Phone 7 sessions. I'll also be trying to visit any of Dino Esposito's sessions as they're always filled with good material, and I'll try to make at least one of Kimberly L. Tripp's sessions to see just how good a professional speaker really is. I still have no idea how she crams so much into a session, but yet always finishes almost exactly on time.

Q. What is one thing you wished everyone knew about DotNetNuke?
A. That once you've understood how to create extensions, just how easy it is to make DotNetNuke do whatever you want, and just how much boilerplate code you don't have to write.
