First European Day of DotNetNuke – A great Event

On May, 28th 2010 the first conference „of the European Day OF DotNetNuke” took place in Paris. For me this was the first international DotNetNuke meeting, according I was very excited to meet the other core team members, with whom I had been communicating before online only. As a further hurdle, I was intimidated by the language barrier, because I still fight with my English with time since school has passed decades. In Paris, however, I became aware that I am not the only one with this situation ;)

A highlight for me was meeting DotNetNuke founder Shaun Walker, the personal contact is always something special. That is valid also for meeting face to face to face with other core members and many DotNetNuke Professionals from Europe, with which I had been in contact. I positively felt that this event brought European dotnetnukers together, from Portugal to Belarus - a giant success!

Altogether the meeting was a round thing: It started on Thursday evening with the Get-together party, where approx. 80 participants used the opportunity to get in contact and exchange. On Friday it was difficult to select the most interesting ones of the many parallel lectures - much too many exciting topics we listed on the program, being presented by qualified speakers. In the evening all speakers and volunteers met again for the dinner, where the meeting was rounded up again with good discussions and contacts.

Saturday morning followed the meeting of DNN-Europe.net, in order to discuss further activities. This meeting was ended with a French lunch menu, and followed for a hard core group with a cruise on the Seine and a small tourist route through Paris.

Altogether the meeting was very well organized: on the one hand the modern outstanding conference center of Microsoft Paris presents itself ideally for a meeting like this: technically fully equipped conference rooms and a communicative lobby, where besides the food supply the exhibitors were intensively visited. In addition, the restaurant for the Get-together party and the boat for the Speakers Dinner gave special flair to the meeting.

DNN Europe, the European network of the DNN Professionals, in cooperation with the French user group successfully delivered an initial event, generating the desire for more;). Cordial thanks to Sebastian Leupold and the organization team!

Above all I want to say special thanks to  the French Usergroup for their extremely friendly support, i.e. Benoit Sarton, who was helpful me also with the check-in in the hotel:), his daughter Arianne and Gilles Le Pigocher, for their personal support during the meeting.

Summing up, I was more than satisfied with the European Day of DotNetNuke and I hope there will be more of these conferences in the future, allowing more users to participate, in order to lend to DotNetNuke in Europe the appropriate weight.
