Hi all,

I am on DNN 05.04.02 and I would like to add files of type .jpeg and .mp4 in the gallery module. I have already added it in the host configuration, like others (.tif, .mov etc..) For example the .tif appears in the gallery allowed types but not the .jpeg (.jpg is ok !!) nor the .mp4.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Nicolas

Sorry that I missed seeing your question earlier. As far as I recall, the Gallery does a secondary check of the file extensions allowed in host settings to filter out those that it it was not originally designed to handle. Jpeg should have been included in Gallery's list of acceptible file extensions. Mp4 was not a common extension when that portion of Gallery's code was written in the mid-2000's and I don't believe that Windows Media Player could handle it back then. It should be acceptible now, however.

Short of a modification to Gallery code and a re-compile, those two extensions (and others) are not currently accepted. I have got to fix a compatibility issue between Gallery 4.03.01 RC and the soon forth-coming DotNetNuke 5.5.0 so may be able to slip the necessary fix in at that time. I have added your request as an issue in the Gallery project issue tracker.

I have finally completed work and a moderate amount of testing on Gallery v 04.03.02 Beta which fixes the AddFolder exception when running under DotNetNuke 5.05.00. I also took the opportunity to fix a number of more minor issues. Please visit the downloads page http://dnngallery.codeplex.com/releas... for this beta release on the project's CodePlex site. A listing of issues fixed in this version is included on the page.

One enhancement is the ability to display .jpeg images and .mp4 and .m4v video files in the Gallery. Note that for the new video formats, their extensions must first be added to the allowable file upload extensions found on the Portal Settings page when logged in as host. Also, their mime types must be added to IIS. See the release notes for Gallery 04.03.02 Beta for more information on the mime types.

Remember that this is a Beta version and should not be used on live production sites until it has passed through the Release Tracker testing process for "core" DotNetNuke modules. I plan to allow a week for the community to test this new version then, if no showstopper issues are reported, submit the package to Release Tracker testing. Since that testing process is done entirely by volunteers, it is difficult to estimate how long it will be until the official release.

The more people we have testing at this stage, the sooner and more confidently the module can be submitted to the Release Tracker. Please post any new Issus you find on the project's CodePlex Issue Tracker at http://dnngallery.codeplex.com/workit... .
