Hello,

I have been running DNN4 using Gallery 03.01.12 for years with no problems.  At some point in the past couple weeks, something went wrong and now the galleries that were previously working fine, are no longer showing. I have tried to remove and reinstall them, but if I try to use the "Edit", "Add File", "Add Album", or "Add Maintenance" buttons, I get the following error message:

404 - File or directory not found.

The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

I changed the "Root URL" of the gallery to a folder that had the previous pictures in it, and I was able to make the first page show, but if I click on "Next" to see the next page, I get the same 404 error.  Interestingly, I am still able to open and use the viewer and toggle through all the pictures that are in the folder... It's just the main gallery display that seems to be semi-broken.

I have tried restoring the database as well as the DNN folder, but neither of these actions have resolved the problem.  I also get the same error when I create new galleries (they suffer the same symptoms).

Uninstalling and then reinstalling the gallery has also not resolved the problem in any way.

Can anyone offer some suggestions that might help?  I have not found anyone with a similar problem in my searches here on the forum.  Why would it suddenly stop working?

Gallery v 3.01.12 which was designed for DNN 3.x has some serious bugs, one of them being its failure to work when the setting for Use Friendly URLs? is enabled in Host Settings --> Advanced Settings --> Friendly URL Settings. I would suggest that you disable Friendly URLs and check if the module is again working. Perhaps Friendly URLs had been enabled by accident or perhaps during a Framework upgrade.

The Gallery Project Team hopes to very soon release a BETA of Gallery v 4.03.00 on its page in CodePlex. Over the past year, the Gallery has undergone hundreds of bug fixes and enhancements including the one relating to the use of Friendly URLs.

Thank you very much.  That fixed the problem and everything appears to be working smooth once again!

Dawn - I'm glad that you got Gallery 03.00.12 working again, but would suggest that you upgrade Gallery to the release version 04.03.00 available at http://dnngallery.codeplex.com. Note, however, that this version requires a minimum DotNetNuke version of 4.09.03. The current release fixes a large number of issues including that of the FriendlyURLs AND several serious security issues that were found in Gallery version 03.00.12.
