I am having a problem getting to my new DNN 7.2 site from my public IP.

www.frontierbpm.com

internally on the server all pages are accessible from localhost or internal IP.

Win 2012 server with SQL 2012 full install.

I reviewed my IIS and DNS host settings but seem to be missing something.  Does DNN need to have an alias for my public IP as well?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

you need to make sure that the request is forwarded to the proper IIS website and DNN is able to route the website address being used to the requested website. for the first, I'd place an image file in the root of your DNN website folder and are able to access it by using the direct path

Sebastian

I moved my dotnetnuke folder under wwwroot to another directory and copied an old .net app into a new subfolder under wwwroot.  That site is immedately available from public IP without any issue.  I only have localhost binding to port 80 no IP address defined in IIS.

I am thinking that there is something with the DNN aliases that is blocking the access.

Can someone assist, I am at a critical stage for QA deployment?

Thanks

it is not a good Idea placing DNN in a subfolder of an other application - you would at least make it an application folder and might need to override inherited settings from web.config. Place your website folder e.g. aside of wwwroot and either point Default website to it or add a second IIS website with a custom name (you might need to edit hosts file to register the alias).

I tried moving my dotnetnuke folder to the root of my drive and modified my advanced settings in IIS to point to the new folder.  For DNN from my public IP I am still getting the 404 error.

If I switch back to a default.aspx blank page for my root IIS page it resolves correctly from my public IP.

I think I may try a new DNN install and see what it does.
