I have been trying hard to find someone who can provide some support to me on ActiveForums but it has proved to be very difficult.

I purchased ActiveForums years ago and have been using it since. Just migrated the server and the license page now comes up to enter serial number. But when entered it says error generating key. I think the license needs to be reactivated for the new server.

ActiveModules was purchased by DNN Corp, so I am trying to find someone who can provide support. I contacted DNN Store and they simply refer me back to the module developer! They say since I didn't buy the module from them they cannot help!

I have contacted www.activemodules.com and activeforums.org and no one has come back to me. I also tried to contact Mr Will Morgenweck (the founder of ActiveModule who I believe is at DNN Corp now) and still no luck in getting a reply. I contacted some people on the team for active forums and still no one got back to me.

This is becoming rather desperate as we need to get the forums back online on several portals and this needs license reactivation urgently. We will then look into an upgrade as ActiveForums is now part of DNN so as to avoid this major problem in the future. But before I can upgrade, will need to get it working again on the live server.

It would be great if someone in this community can help to put me in touch with the right person at DNN Corp.

Much appreciated
Henry

Any chance of upgrading to the newer active forum module that doesn't require any licensing?

Sure, will certainly consider upgrading but would first need to get the module back working rather than showing the license page, don't we? Besides the following page says that after upgrading, would still need to reactive the license. Is this not true? I think after version 4.x, there is no need for licensing, but somehow need to get there first and the showstopper seems to be the licensing.

There seem to be a load of "...not sure's..." here.

Can you copy your site to a test environment and just try it?

Best wishes,

Thanks Richard. The production site shows the license page. The local site does not because active forums understands that is on a local server, so I can test it locally but the question will still remain for the production site. Nevertheless I wanted to follow your advice and test it locally, but I have hit another wall!

The version I use is 3.7 to upgrade to 4.x I would need a migration script which is mentioned below that is necessary as the upgrade is not automatic.

Where can i get hold of this migration tool: AFImport_01.00.00_Install.zip
I cannot find it on activemodules.com
