Hi,

I have installed newer version of Media. In the home page of the Media project it says that, media will support most of the media files along with image files. So, I wanted to add MOV type file to my web site. But I got the error message as below...

File type MOV is not valid in this context. Valid File Types Include: jpg,jpeg,jpe,gif,bmp,png,swf,AVI,MPEG,MP3,ASF,ASX,WMA,WMV,WAV

And also I tried to upload the .mpe format file. But I got the below error message:

The File .mpe Is A Restricted File Type. Valid File Types Include ( *. swf, *.jpg, *.jpeg, *.jpe, *.gif, *.bmp, *.png, *.doc, *.xls, *.ppt, *.pdf, *.txt, *.xml, *.xsl, *.css, *.zip ). Please Contact Your Hosting Provider If You Need To Upload A File Type Which Is Not Supported.

Can any body help me out in this?

Thanks in advance.

I can help you with a part of your problem.
Log in as host and go to host->host settings->Advanced settings->Other settings
Half-way down the section there is a boks filled with valid extensions. Just add the extension you are missing and press update at the bottom. This will allow uploading file with these extensions. If this also allow playing these added types of files I don't know.

Good Luck

Hi Lars Lem,

Very first time, I have followed your steps, I got working my media file, which is mp3 format. Now I have added the file of .MOV format. It got uploade with out problem. But, when I saw the my page, it was displaying the error saying that 'Invalid Media'!

Of couse my machine does not have Quick Time to run this file. So, in that case how could I allow the user to run this file? Is there any way for it?

Please help me in this.

Thanks.

I'm getting this error while trying to upload an mp3:

The File Is A Restricted File Type. Valid File Types Include ( *.swf, *.jpg, *.jpeg, *.jpe, *.gif, *.bmp, *.png, *.doc, *.xls, *.ppt, *.pdf, *.txt, *.xml, *.xsl, *.css, *.zip, *. wma, *. mp3, *. wmv, *. mov ). Yeah - you read that right - mp3 is a supported file type.  There are no size restrictions (set to 0), so what gives?  I'm totally stumped!  We're trying to set up a repository for audio files, some of which are pretty big.  I can't figure out why I can't make this work.  I tried adding other extensions like MP3 or Mp3, but no dice.

Please help!
