OK, I have DNN 05.01.04 (3)  and some images just started to disappear. These images were working for weeks!

This is what I see now

http://www.jessicaprouty.com/jpband/Portals/0/Myspace/AndyIIfinal.jpg
on this page, for example
http://www.jessicaprouty.com/jpband/BandMembers/Andy.aspx

I went to look for Leopold's suggestion in the host schedule menu and I don't even see one for media. This is what I have there:

DotNetNuke.Entities.Users.PurgeUsersOnline, DOTNETNUKE Every 1 Minute Every 5 Minutes
Edit DotNetNuke.Services.Log.SiteLog.PurgeSiteLog, DOTNETNUKE Every 1 Day Every 2 Hours
Edit DotNetNuke.Services.Scheduling.PurgeScheduleHistory, DOTNETNUKE Enabled Every 1 Day Every 2 Days 8/9/2010 9:28:40 PM
Edit DotNetNuke.Services.Log.EventLog.PurgeLogBuffer, DOTNETNUKE Every 1 Minute Every 5 Minutes
Edit DotNetNuke.Services.Log.EventLog.SendLogNotifications, DOTNETNUKE Every 5 Minutes Every 10 Minutes
Edit DotNetNuke.Services.Search.SearchEngineScheduler, DOTNETNUKE Enabled Every 30 Minutes Every 60 Minutes 8/9/2010 8:09:36 PM
Edit DotNetNuke.Services.Cache.PurgeCache, DOTNETNUKE Every 2 Hours Every 30 Minutes
Edit DotNetNuke.Modules.Forum.StartEmailQueuedTasks, DotNetNuke.Modules.Forum Every 1 Minute Every 1 Minute
Edit DotNetNuke.Modules.Forum.CleanupEmailQueuedTasks, DotNetNuke.Modules.Forum Every 1 Day Every 1 Day
Edit DotNetNuke.Modules.Events.EventNotification, DotNetNuke.Modules.Events Enabled Every 1 Hour Every 30 Minutes 8/9/2010 8:07:18 PM

And in host settings, other settings, enable file sync is checked.

I have also manually file synched recursive for that folder in file manager. I am able to go in via ftp and the files are there and they are fine, but I initally did upload them via media manager. It is only about 5 files in the directory that get this message, but when I try to delete and reupload, I still can't get the files to work, even when I rename them. And the names and correct sizes are listed in media manager when I try to embed them through the editor but the file images are white.

Any ideas?

Best,

Katherine

Unfortunately, the Media Module doesn't actually handle the addition or deletion of any files.  A core control does allow you to upload files, but the Media Module doesn't even expose a way or try to delete any files in its code.  :(

What scheduler item are you looking for that you said Sebastian mentioned?

Are these files physically disappearing on the server, or just disappearing from the dropdownlist?

Are there any related errors in the Event Log?  (In the Admin menu)

Hi Katherine,

searching your Website I can't find the DNN_Gallery Module.  It looks that you are using a 3rd party module.  Are you sure you using the DNN_MediaGallery ?

OK, guys! This is weird! This morning when I woke up, the pics appeared again. Furthermore, I may be calling it the incorrect module to upload. It is probably the core function because it is what I use to upload images via the editor. (I have to use the FCK editor because the other editor doesn't allow me to to strip out the background color that is the default in the skin I purchased so the background is back and I can't read the text, but that is another story.) I thought it used the media module to upload but it must be a core function.

The jpg files appear to be on the server when I surf for them to embed them via the html module, but they appear blank even though the names are there, the correct size, etc., and when I embedded them, I got that error message. The jpg files were also on the server and could be viewed and downloaded via ftp, but when I linked to them, even outside DNN which I do all the time (if you go to www.myspace.com/jessicaproutymusic you will see that I pull images from the DNN directories) some of them gave me that error message while other images in the same DNN directory gave me no error message.

If it happens again... who knows... but it fixed itself or the recursive sync fixed it but it took a while.

Best,

Katherine

I think Matthias hit the nail on the head...  I don't think you're using the media module either.  I am now officially confused.  Are you using the HTML/Text Module to add your media?  If yes, are you able to upload using the File Manager in the Admin menu?  When your media "disappears", does it just look like it's missing?  For example, are you still able to refer to the URL directly and verify that it exists in the File Manager?
