Hi Folks,

I have a question about the media module and containers. This relates mostly to Flash movie module displays. Sometimes I need to display two Flash movie modules or a Flash movie module and some other graphic in some pane together or separate panes. Sometimes I don’t want spaces between them. Even if I uncheck display container I always get spaces between the two. This happens with the regular DNN media module and a version I modified. I don’t always want spaces. When I display the source I don't see any indication of any padding or border in the HTML. What am I missing? Is there anyway around this space issue? How can I control the spaces between two media modules?

Thanks,

G. M.

The current version of the Media Module doesn't allow a whole lot of design changes very easily.  That being said, there a plenty of workarounds.  I would suggest one of the following solutions:
  • Using wrapper code in the Header & Footer fields in the module settings to allow for greater CSS control by putting things like an open and close DIV in those fields, respectively. Then, use CSS to make your design adjustments.
  • Add a custom container to your skin package to help alleviate any design issues.
Finally, there is a new release of the Media Module on the horizon that allows your use case to be solved pretty quickly.  It is completely XHTML compliant, and completely CSS and jQuery friendly.  It is currently in the release tracker, and should go through this time.

Thanks, Will. Is there any chance of getting that new Media Module as Beta? I would only be using it on my test site for now.

Will,

We do a lot with Adobe Flash. The Flash graphics guy I work with and I will be doing a lot of experimenting with this module on our test site in the next few weeks. If we run into any issues I’ll let you guys know.

Thanks a lot for the help.

G.M.
