Hallo,

I would like to display the feedback module in another language than English. Where do I find the language packs ? Thanks

Hi,

in many cases, local usergroups provide Language Packs - as you don't mention which language you want to use, I can't be more detailled. Have a look.

On the other hand, there is a Language Editor (under Admin :: Languages) that allows you to translate the module. The feedback module is not so big, so this should be done quickly.

Best wishes
Michael

Hi, thanks for your answer. I would need the italian translation. From your email I understand that language packs are not in one single place, is that correct ?

When I try to create the language pack by myself I get the message saying that it is necessary to create a resource file before create a language pack. Do you have a link where it is explained how to properly create language packs ? Thanks

Hi,

  1. Yes, this is correct. There might be an Italian language pack here under Resources :: Downloads :: Language Packs - I am not sure, and at the moment, this page fires an exception. As far as I can see, there is no Italian usergroup (at least not an official one), so you can try to use Google to find a Language Pack in Italian.
  2. To create a Language Pack, just navigate to Admin :: Languages. In the grid at the bottom, click on one of the Edit pencils under "Static Resources". If you want to create a Language Pack that you want to publish or share later, use the "System" option. To create a translation for all portals of your installation, use the "Host" option, and if you want to use it only for the current site, use the "Site" option. If you're not sure, use the "System" option, but remember this could be overwritten when installing another Language Pack for this module.
Then open the tree on the left hand side, and navigate to the install directory of the module you want to translate (this should be Local Resources :: DesktopModules :: Feedback), and then open the App_LocalResources folder. You can see the files there. Click the first file (CommentSettings) and type your translations in the right column. You might check "Highlight Pending Translations" to see the untranslated entries surrounded by a red border. When you're done, click "Save Resource File" on the bottom and go on to the next file. When you have translated everything, go back.
If you want to deploy the Language Pack, you can create it now. Click "Create Language Pack", select the language, check "Module" and select "Feedback". Then click the "Create" button and the Language Pack will be created in your DNN installation directory under "Install\Language". This file can be used to install the Langauge Pack on other DNN installations.

Best wishes
Michael
