Ask me more frequently: a new release for FAQ 05.01.01

This is a version to fix some annoying bugs. The search in DNN 7.1.x has changed from older versions. This created a problem for the content of FAQs. I have made a trade-off between to keep the module compatbile for DNN 7.0, so display of search info in DNN 7.1 and higher is not as nice as it could have been.

We encourage you all to give this new version a test before updating your production environment. And be sure to make a backup before installing this new release. Better be safe than sorry! FAQs 05.01.01 can be downloaded from CodePlex.

Release notes DNN FAQs 05.01.01

FAQs 05.01.01 will work for any DNN version 7.0.6 and up. Full details on the changes can be found in great detail at dnnfaq.codeplex.com.

BUG FIXES

  • Search items indexed clean of HTML tags
  • Icon URL for edit question corrected

CHANGES

  • Search item date changed from createdate/time to modify date/time

What is next?

Not before long, I will create a new version that will be limited to DNN 7.2.1 and higher to remove the trade-off. Also, the AJAX based display of answers sometimes does not work for some answer templates. That will be solved as well.

I think we will use this module to get experienced in Github. Up until now, all source code of FAQs is stored at TFS from CodePlex. This worked well, but did not enable people, other than the FAQ team, to work on the module. Putting the source on Github should make this possible. And since Github is new for us as well, this is a nice opportunity to get real experience in working with Github ourselves!
