Need help launching a DNN database on my local pc. I have the database of the website on my hard disk but cant get it to run on my laptop to edit or test the functionality.?? looks hard in videos but thought I had it down.. each time I add the database and click run on DNN or azure or WEBMATRIX it gives an error message.. don't know what to do now..

You will Need both, database and all files from your Website.
You need to setup IIS locally and create a Website for your DNN - ideally with a custom Name, provided in Hosts file to override the Name Server.
You might need to modify both Connection strings in web.config and add/alter entries in PortalAlias table inside the database to point to your new domain name
