Hi Folks,

I added two columns to the users table and extended the users view.

After doing this I noticed new users could not register.

Could this have been caused by the newly added columns?

Feedback greatly appreciated.

Thanks

you should NEVER.

I repeat NEVER.

just to make sure you understand this: NEVER EVER change the columns of the core DNN application.

If you need to add properties to the user object, use the extension point that was created for that: the profile properties

Sir,

You have no idea what problem is that we are trying to resolve and using the profile table is not an option.

Your response comes accross with a serious lack of professionalism and speaks poorly of your company as well.

A proper response would have been something like this: "It is not recommended to alther the Users table since it may cause unpredictable results and behavior in your portal resulting in negative experience for your users ..."

Hope this helps you learn how to communicate appropriately.

This advice is from  a Microsoft Alumni (Senior Architect).

Thanks

Dear Microsoft Alumni (Senior Architect)!

It is not recommended to alter any table from the core DNN application since it may cause unpredictible results and behaviour in your portal resulting in negative experience for your users. This concerns the Users table as well.

To be able to support you, it would be helpful if you could give a short description of your needs and why the user profiles extension is not suitable.

Best wishes
Michael
