I cant find any best resource or link which explains me how to create modules in dnn6. After searching on the internet i finally tried to test it by myself but its not working properly. i have created a new ascx control and added it to DesktopModules folder, there are some dependencies like .css file for this ascx control, so i have added them to same folder. then by going to host->extension->manage i finally created the new module. now its time to add, by going to add module option i have select my module and other options e.g category, module name and so on.. but when i add this it doesn't show it on my page?  i am using community edition, starter kit of vs2010.

Well, if you can't find anything, you haven't looked hard enough ;)

You should start with the Wiki http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/W...

Also check this out:

http://christoctemplate.codeplex.com/

I've used the template and the documentation is good enough to get you started using the template.

I've tried both methods and can't get either to build :(

With the christoc template I get:
The Web Application Project MyModule is configured to use IIS. The Web server 'http://dnndev/desktopmodules/MyModule/' could not be found.

My website is set up to use 'localhost/dotnetnuke_community' (i.e. I'm using the source code for development).

Thank you for Chris's huge resources (blog/video/download...).

I have did once successful in my first laptop with Chris's video, created a module "DNNExplained".
Environment: Visual Studio 2012, SQL-Server 2008, DNN 6.1.5
Installed: MSBuild.Community.Tasks.v1.4.0.42.msi, DotNetNuke C# Compiled Module.zip

When I'm trying to do the same thing (create a module "DNNExplained") in my second laptop, I got a error message:
"The Web Application Project DNNExplained is configured to use IIS. The Web server 'http://dnndev/desktopmodules/DNNExplained/' could not be found."
Environment: Visual Studio 2012, SQL-Server 2008, DNN 6.2.0
Installed: MSBuild.Community.Tasks.v1.4.0.42.msi, DotNetNuke C# Compiled Module.zip

DNN website is running well by http://localhost or http://dnndev

I searched internet, somebody seems like got the same error message, but doesn't have solution for it yet.
Can any body give me some hint or idea?

Thanks in advance!
