I have Events module version 5.1.4 and love that we have the "Export to Desktop Event", but the problem is that it is exporting with UTC time, not the time that the time zone that the portal is set to. The event detail shows "U0C -06:00" but it is not subtracting the 6 hours to get the localized time. Is this something that will be fixed in a future version?

Hi Kewlgeek,

Feel free to send me one of your .ics files and I'll see if I can identify why it isn't working correctly. In any case, the module doesn't output in UTC as such (UTC dates in ics file would end in 'z'), but it outputs in a neutral timezone neutral which is treated similarly to UTC. Basically the module corrects for the module timezone (i.e. event time - difference to GMT), not the portal timezone , which when imported into a mail client will get corrected back by the clients timezone (i.e. event time + difference to GMT).

When DNN starts to support DST properly, and the full set of international timezones (of which I think there are 90+, rather than the 24/25 differences to GMT), then we will output times in UTC properly, since we will be able to calculate them reliably.

That said, I did find a bug in DST handling in 5.1.4 which may cause the issue you are seeing. In that there is no VTIMEZONE output in the .ics file. This is fixed in 5.1.5 beta 4 (not released yet). A quick look at your ics will identify if that is the issue.
