The Events team worked hard on the improvement of the Events module. With success. In the last 2 years, the Events module s has evolved from a buggy limited usable module into a serious event publishing and registration nodule with a lot of followers. The last release (5.0.3) was downloaded more than 1.000 times since it release on CodePlex only 2 weeks back, the version before that (5.0.2) was downloaded more than 5.000 times. So there is an audience!
Nice figures which motivates the team to continue to improve and enhance the module.
Need for better
When moving forward and changing the module, testing the current and new functionality becomes an important task. The Events team had a very active tester (Michael Kamp), who had to step back some time ago because of serious neurological problems with his eyes. We have been working on automated testing, e.g. using DejaClick for FF, to record and play back test scenario's. This worked OK to a certain extend. It saved us a lot of time executing our test scripts.
Seeing that the core team are picking up the WatiN (and one of it's creators, Jeroen van Menen as well, see this link), we want to start using WatiN for automatic testing of the Events module as well.
We are looking for
We seriously want to improve in this area. Therefore the Events team is looking for a volunteer who wants to join the Events team and will be our "head" for automatic testing.
Task: set-up and manage the automatic testing using WatiN. For more information about WatiN, click on this link
Requirements: willing to work with other volunteers from various countries, interested in the paradigm "work smarter, not harder" in a testing environment, able to spend a couple of hours every now and then (maybe more now than then), commitment to quality, commitment for let's say at least half a year. If you have experience with automatic testing or maybe WatiN it's even better.
Rewards: recognition in the DNN community, a free drink on my account when we meet in person and eternal thanks from thousands satisfied Events module users...
