Based upon the vast array of experience here, I’m hoping that one of you can recommend an appropriate module for the following set of requirements.

Requirements are;

*Event Registration

- categorized events

- 1 registration per user

- gender aware (e.g only men can sign up to event)

- payment

- nice to have – waiting lists

*Expiring Discount Card

- expiring (annual) discount card that would provide $$ discount to event registration set on a per-event basis.

*Expiring Packages of Tokens

- package of x tokens

- 1 token can be used at event registration time instead of payment

- packages of tokens expire (can only be used up until a certain time).

If the built in DNN Events module does not do everything you need, have you looked on SnowCovered.com to see if there is a commercial module that can do what you need?

Well - therein lies the original objective for this post.

Snowcovered has a couple event modules, but they seem pretty basic - the gender, max registration, tokens, discounts pieces don't exist.

I also considered a shopping cart since these tend to have a large array of features, but nothing really shined.

Is there a feature sheet for DNNEvents somewhere?  I'm really trying to assess what size of development project we're talking about here... or perhaps whether there's anyone who's used other modules in combination for a simillar purpose.

There is no "commercial" oriented feature list sheet for DNNEvents.

Have a look at http://dnnevents.codeplex.com/ which provides an overview of the functionalities of this module. And download it, install it in a test enviroment. The proof of the pudding is in the eating! And since you can download the source as well, you will get an impression of the size of a project like this.

Hi, I just happen to see this post, so wouldn't mind sharing a little about our module: Event Calendar & Registration, it might be useful for you.

The current version v3.1 comes with many features but lack of the "discount token" feature you want.  However, we are in the progress of adding the discount token by value, as well as by percentage (with expiry date).

So if you are intested you might want to visit the website www.invenmanager.com and drop us an email, so we can help you to build this feature for you.
