Hi,

I could not find this in documentation or in the forums anywhere - I have a question about asset management for my Evoq-driven site. I understand I can upload videos, files (like PDF) and images to be a linked in the content (not sure about two first two categories either). Can I configure Evoq to store these assets in the specific Fileshare with a specific structure? I have couple other applications which may need to make a use of these assets, so I want them shared.

And vise versa - can Evoq link (and index for internal search?) assets which are already stored in this Fileshare by those other apps?

Michael,

That's a good question. A little more context may be helpful of us to understand your use-case. Are you looking to integrate this into a custom module or are you simply wanting external applications to have access to files in a specific folder in your Evoq site?

With Evoq you should be to use a "Connector" to set up connections with any specific storage provider (Box, Dropbox, etc.). I believe you can indicate which folders you would like to have access to. You may have seen this link already, but if not this page may provide some helpful info.

Also notable is the Evotiva Global Storage module which has a lot of flexibility.

Hi Clilnt,

Thank you for the reply - looks like the Folder Provider is what I need. I needed a shared file storage location, where both Evoq and other apps can store the assets. The need mainly to allow other apps to use the assets which were uploaded through the Evoq but vise versa could be great as well. Is there an event I can throw for Evoq to "pick up" a new file which was uploaded to the shared folder (by other app) and add it to internal assets - index it, or some other way make available?

Michael,

You're welcome. I don't know that an event is needed to make this happen. If you upload a file to any file-store and then try to access the location from your DNN/Evoq site it should show all contents that are present in that location.

Are you wanting to do something I'm not imagining such as send an email upon file upload or something unique like that which you need an event to hook into?

No, nothing fancy. Just maybe if we have an asset library - like document library - in Evoq, so users can search for the files within the site. My guess they need to be indexed somehow to become searched? This kind of event I had in mind - if the asset file needs to be indexed to become searchable in Evoq, I'd create some event hook and as soon file is uploaded, this hook is called.
