I'm using DNN 9.  I see that  dnn.jquery.js under /Resources/Shared/scripts is about 170KB in file size.  So my question to the veterans of DNN, is if it is ok for us to minify this javascript file down so that it isn't so large, or will that cause issues in various parts of DNN?

In the Host settings -> Advanced Settings -> Client Resource Management section you will find a set of options, if you enable composite files and tick the minify options, javascript files will be merged and minified by the system so you not just save on the transfer size but also on the quantity of transfers.

Two little things to know about this feature:

  1. When making changes during developement, if you don't see things as they should show, you need to go back there and click the Increment Version button to recreate the minified composite files.
  2. I am almost sure the composite files are not used if the application is in debug mode.

That is true debug must be set to false in order for the Client Dependency Framework to kick in.
