Shaun Walker in his blog about DNN 7 indicated "align ourselves with the next generation of Microsoft technology" and "once ASP.NET 4.5 ships it makes sense for us to move our baseline requirement".
DNN 7 beta projects are still .NET 4.0.

When can we see all projects in the DNN 7 solution move to .NET 4.5?

the 7.0 release will be built against .net 4.0 and not .net 4.5. We can't move to 4.5 now as that would mean the majority of users cannot upgrade to 7.0 - we typically aim to remain 1 release behind the latest version from Microsoft to ensure the maximium user base but also to allow us to avail of the framework updates.

I understand your concern.
Is there a plan to move to .NET 4.5 in the near future, possibly DNN 7.1?

In the first 6 months of 2012 over half of new DNN installs were on .Net 3.5.  So in the ~2 years since the release of .Net 4 more than half of production deployments had not yet moved up to .Net 4.

.Net 4.5 is supported starting in 7.0, but it is not required.  The core will not use any 4.5 specific features likely for a couple of years, but there is nothing stopping people from using 4.5 features in their own extensions.

I would like to use HTML5 input types like date, number, color etc in my Code-Behind, which is supported only in .Net Framework 4.5

How do I do that?

Don't I need to use 4.5 for the base DNN Installation? How do I upgrade the DNN7 to use framework 4.5?
