When I go to Community->Beta testing, the last beta I find is for 5.6.0.

Am I missing something? Would betas have moved elswhere?

there has been no beta for 5.6.1 released and none for 5.6.2 yet. you may, however, download latest published source code for 5.6.2 and build it yourself.

actually there was a beta and an RC created for 5.6.1 - you can see all downloads at http://dotnetnuke.codeplex.com/releases/view/59419 (we typically post forum posts, blog posts and twitter when they're available). I'm not sure if 5.6.2 will have a beta (I don't believe so but as Sebastian points out you can get nightly builds at http://dotnetnuke.codeplex.com/SourceControl/list/changesets).There will be pre-release versions of 6.0.

This link is for the repository of DNN5. I've succeeded in installing TortoiseSVN and compiling the latest version, but I've not yet started testing it out.

I have tried DNN 6.0.0.444 Is there a separate repository for DNN 6?

Am I correct to conclude that we are still going for DNN 5.6.3 and on? Just wondering, since all issues (well most of them) in the tracker seem to concern 6.0

Another question: When I compile the latest version, and I want to update an existing portal instance, are there special procedures? How would I make a release.config? Rename web.config or am I missing out on something? I do not use Database.mdf so that should be of no concern

you can find the latest packaged builds (including cpt's/betas) at http://dotnetnuke.codeplex.com/releases/view/63026 . The sourcecode tab (http://dotnetnuke.codeplex.com/SourceControl/list/changesets) contains the last source code pushed to codeplex (normally this is nightly, but as we've switched to c# it's less irregular until we get it stable). When you download a changeset you rename release.config/development.config as web.config, open the sln in vs.net and compile it in release mode (which builds the various packages) before doing an install. if you're looking to do an update, remove the web.config and copy the compiled files over your existing install.
