Hello everyone!

I'm new to this DNN, but not to c #. But I am having a problem and it is hard for me to find information about how I can create my own template for DNN for different pages, and also to know if it is possible to add these Bootstrap templates. It really strikes me to learn this, because it seems great to be able to have a CMS on the C # side, but the information they provide is too scarce. Any information you have to create a template from 0 can leave me here, I will be very grateful. Also, I would like to know the requirements to be able to create templates. Is a certain version of Visual Studio required?

You can create skin/theme using any text editor, no specific version of VS needed.
And yes, you can use bootstrap.

Please note the in DNN the theme is more of a base layout and the actual content is inside modules.
So in general a theme does not

You can find more info here: https://dnndocs.com/content/designers...

There are also some useful links on the old documentation pages:

 https://www.dnnsoftware.com/wik...

(some of them don't work any more though)

You can find a list of OS example skins here: https://www.dnn-connect.org/community...

Hello Timo! Thank's a lot for your answer.

Yes, i read a blog about DNN 5 (jejeje) and they explain that one creates the panels that will be the place where our content and modules will be positioned. And that inside the panels, we use containers that are the ones that really give them the style.

Thank you very much again, for your time Timo, I am sure that soon I will have new doubts, but I will be aware of researching and looking for information, for anything I will consult in the forum.

Timo i have other question.

In the documentation that you attached to me, the last two topics says "pack your theme" and "install your theme". But the link to which I address speaks of "extesions", this part confuses me because already here they talk about using a manifest file, assemblers .dll and scripts sql .sqldataprovider. But none of this is used for the creation of themes.

To upload my themes I think I should go to management> themes> install new theme

Or am I wrong?

The basics of skinning did not change since DNN 5.
The manifest is something that's used for all DNN extensions, also for modules which is the reason dll's are mentioned. A skin normally does not have a dll, but the basics are the same.
I would advise you to download some of the OS skins and check out their manifest.

And yes, in DNN9 that's the way to install a Theme (previously names a skin)
