We are running DNN 9.2 and have added a number of required user profile fields that must be populated in order for a user to register on our site.  These fields are required by a third party merchant API and the values must be sent to the API for onboarding when a new user registers.  

How do we add our custom API post method, that sends user profile data to the API, to the DNN Register button click event?

I think you would need to look at a third party solutions for that, like ActionForm from DNNSharp....
This is a form building module with the ability to register users and also create extra calls ...
