I am trying to take an existing DNN site and run a copy of it on my local machine for development purposes. I am totally new to DNN, but have managed to get a fresh install to work correctly.

After transferring the entire website directory from the server to my local machine, I set up SQL Express, IIS, and the Application pool, as well as modifying the web.config connection strings. When I attempt to navigate to the site locally, I am given this error:

My guess is that something with my SQL DB is incorrect.

The server is running: SQL 2014, IIS 8.5, Windows Server 2012

My local is running SQL Express 2016, IIS 10, Windows 10

In case anyone runs across this in the future, I believe I have solved my error.

This project is running DNN 7.1.2

My guess about the SQL DB not being configured correctly was close to the real issue. The real issue was that the database backup I was using was broken. More specifically, instead of correct column types in the PortalAlias table, they were all just varchar. Restoring with a valid backup (datetimes and other correct types where they are supposed to be in the PortalAlias table) fixed my issue.
