I just finished upgrading from 7.4 to 8.0.0.2 and now when my users login the custom user profile settings are being over written with nulls.

as I don't know what your actual question is I can only shoot in the dark. Hopefully you did not upgrade your production site but did it on a testing environment. I would check the log files if anything went wrong, try to correct that and retry the upgrade until it works. Did you install something that manipulates the core database (eg. TurboSQL)? You propably have to uninstall this component before you upgrade.

If that all does not help you hopefully have a database backup to restore the values (restore the backup to a different database and write some queries to fill the data from the backup DB into the current one).
