We developed a website using DotNetNuke Community Edition, now we would like to deploy to production.

I setup website in IIS on the production server, copy the folder from development server, updated the connection strings in the web.config. When I try to access the website on the production server, I was given the "installation page."

Do I have to install DotNetNuke on the production server?

You should not install DNN!

You have to copy all the DNN files and backup the database, then restore both on the production Server.  Please note after restore the database the userLogin is not mapped with the user, and you should use SQL Management Studio to run sp_change_user_login.

--Map database user MB-Sales to login MaryB.
USE AdventureWorks2012;
EXEC sp_change_users_login 'Update_One', 'MB-Sales', 'MaryB';

Run Applicationpool with 32Bit mode diabled.

if the installer page Shows up after moving a DNN site and database, most likely the site has issues accessing the database.
