Background

DotNetNuke allows SMTP settings to be set for email providers - these are then used for portal mails (e.g. registration/password retrieval) as well as the built in bulk-mail module. Please click here for a video on setting your SMTP settings.

Common configurations

If you have your own SMTP server, you will need to enter the settings your mail adminstrator/webmaster provides you. However if you are hosted with a share host or plan on using your existing mail provider, links to relevant configurations are provided below.

Note: if you have activated 2-step verification in their Google Security Settings, you must generate a Application Specific Password and use this password in the smtp settings in DNN
