A Security Role in DotNetNuke is a way to group users into collections. Based on these roles you can apply various permissions on your web site, at the Page and Module level. Users can belong to multiple roles, and can also have time frames associated to this role membership. There are a few Default roles created upon portal installation but you may also create your own.

When creating a role you can configure settings such as

  • Role Name
  • Description
  • Role Group
  • Public Role
  • Auto Assignment
  • Advanced Settings
