Successfully linstlled DNN9 using the excellent Chris Hammond Videos onto a windows 10 development environment.

Some weeks later returned to HTTP 500 error when trying to browse dnndev.me.

I therefore attempted a re-install but could not get the install package to initiate an install.  SQL Express does not show any databases and NETWORK SERVICE and dnndev.me have access to the file system.

The log file shows a number of errors but these mean nothing to a novice like me.:-

Not sure what step has been missed but my guess is that in the interim I've installed some other product that has had this effect on DNN  (.net 1.1?)

Hopefully someone has some ideas.

Neil,

Please check if the application pool is running under .Net CLR version 4.0.

Have you one anything with Visual Studio, e.g. created a module? Visual Studio creates a Virtual Directory and an Application every time it loads the project, you have to delete them in IIS manager to be able to run the site.

Happy DNNing!

Oh also, I remember something about some false positive with CkEditor from some anti-virus software... Shot in the dark but maybe...

Thanks for the replies.

Application pool is using v4.0.

Tried using mvQuicksite (basically trying anything) and the log states :-

2019-06-14 12:44:28.336+01:00 [DESKTOP-BLD05UI][D:3][T:13][ERROR] DotNetNuke.ComponentModel.ProviderInstaller - System.Configuration.Configurati sException: Could not load provider DNNConnect.CKEditorProvider.CKHtmlEditorProvider, DNNConnect.CKEditorProvider

Still get same 500 error on browsing.

As you mentioned Visual Studio - I uninstalled it and re-installed. I gave Community Edition 2019 - is this version an issue?

After another mvQuicksite - log file states same message :-

2019-06-14 13:13:55.106+01:00 [DESKTOP-BLD05UI][D:2][T:1][ERROR] DotNetNuke.ComponentModel.ProviderInstaller - System.Configuration.Configurati sException: Could not load provider DNNConnect.CKEditorProvider.CKHtmlEditorProvider, DNNConnect.CKEditorProvider
