DotNetNuke 8 Users,

Please help.

Can one safely delete old log files? If yes, can it be automated?

These are the kind of folders that I have in mind.

C:\inetpub\wwwroot\dotnetnuke\Portals\_default\Logs

C:\inetpub\wwwroot\dotnetnuke\Portals\0\Logs

These are are the kind of files that I have in mind.

2016.07.19.log.resources

Can these safely be deleted?

Can these safely be removed in bulk?

Can such deletion be automated via DotNetNuke itself? Rolling purge? Auto delete all older than 1 year? Etc?

Please advise.

Thanks.

Mark,

I would say: yes, you can delete them if you don't need them anymore.

And yes, you can delete them automatically, but not with DNN. You need some tool that is able to delete by age, this could be a PowerShell script, and then assign a Scheduled Task in Windows.

I use DELAGE32 for that (https://www.horstmuc.de/wbat32.htm) - which is quite an old tool, but helps...

Happy DNNing!

Hi Mark,

DNNBackup 8.6+ includes a tool to delete files older than X days. This is, DNN Admin Log, Site Log, Schedule History, and Host (Server) Log Files. I.e. .log.resources files under /portals/_default/Log

Thanks,

Horacio
