Good Morning
New to DNN and hoping for some help.
Trying to stand up a site in a development environment that has no connection to the outside world.  When trying to load the site I keep receiving DNN errors and the logs are complaining about "failed to establish connection because host has failed to respond XX.XX.XX.XXX:443".  The site resolves back to a DNN API address.
Does anyone know what or why the site is trying to connect to that address?  Is there anyway to turn it off?

Not a direct answer to your question as I’m not a dev. I’m sure some guru will step in shortly 😊

but...I’d use https://www.nvquicksite.com/ for local sites. This little tool creates a DNN instance within a minute. And never had any problems. And might ‘solve’ yours.

I'm aware of two connections a new 'blank' DNN can have enabled:

1)  Check for Software Upgrades

2) Participate in DNN Improvement Program

Both can be turned off. In DNN 9 this can be done from {Persona Bar] > Settings > Site Settings > Site Behavior > More

In previous DNN versions they can be turned off too.

I think "Participate in DNN Improvement Program" was added in DNN 8. "Check for Software Upgrades" exists since long time ago.

HTH,

H
